What happened to everyone constantly demanding new features?! Added a spell checker and everyone is suddenly happy?! (though the checker did disppear with the last update, but no one complained:o)

I'm working on a revamp of the front page to make better use of some of the space and encourage use of some of the other features (eg. displaying titles of latest hot topics in the forum may grab the attention of those who never leave the front page news). Now is the time to suggest any features you would like to see on the main page.

A couple of other planned features are:

To expand the news to accomodate non-headline stories for the fire-fanatics that want to read about every single incident:D. Some enhanced new posting features such as "append to existing thread" and "tags" to link related stories together.

Possibly a "Low bandwidth" version of the site which will reduce the amount of time it takes to load for those dial-up and mobile phone folks.

Anything else you guys would like to see?

A location/directory where we can post/share training drills (list them by file name) SOP's and other similar info? It would be great to have them in a central directory.

Ah...that's too hard!

How about a link of all the things that I have asked? (http://www.firehall.com/forum/search.php?do=finduser&u=3151)

FC asks that you don't use this function too many times cuz it makes the forum run a little hot.

How about a picture window like the Patch exchange that randomly shows a picture from the galleries? That is one of the planned additions. The idea behind some of my planned additions are to draw more attention to the other features of the site for first time visitors. Though I would have expected long time members to be aware of these things, I guess some still don't venture too far.
Hey maybe JG can put that link in his favorites, wanna splain that to him!:ahhhhh: LOL... com'on, he must have just been testing everyone's navigation skills and knowledge of the advanced features of Firehall.com. Congrats, you all passed:D.

I just found this site recently on Google. I have looked through much of it and I am happy with what I see. I did not miss the spell checker, because I use Firefox Browser (as all people should). It has spell checker all of the time. I love the photo of the week category. Mybe one day I will be able to contribute. I like the forums. Again, I have only had a week to probe around, but I think you are on the right track.
