LONDON, ON - Day 3 of the 2004 London Can-Am Police-Fire Games saw the skies over London and area open up but not enough to dampen the spirits of the 870 competitors taking part in the Games. The camaraderie amongst the emergency service competitors continued while the competitive spirit was also present, particularly at the Western Fair Sports Centre where the Ice Hockey competition got under way. Rough water conditions turned the Triathlon event into a Duathlon with competitors limited to the run and bike portions. Competition was still strong as Jen Pettersen of the Guelph Fire Department was the first woman across the line and Hamilton Firefighter Paul Buffett broke the tape first in the men’s division. The Auto Extrication event began at the Ford St. Thomas Assembly Plant to a crowd of very interested spectators. In addition to the Auto Extrication event, competitors and spectators were able to enjoy a display of vintage vehicles and other activities. Competition in the Auto Extrication event continues on Thursday.
