I am looking to buy a Firefighter Exam Prep book. I was hoping someone here could recommend one to me as there are many.

The two that I see a lot in bookstores and online are:

- Norman Hall's "The Complete Firefighter's Exam Prep Book 2nd Edition"

- Learning Express' "Firefighter Exam: You're hours away from a top score!"

Thanks,

Why not buy them both?? Over my 3 years of trying to get on, I think I accumulated about 5 fire exam prep. books. All have the same idea, but each are a little different and offer something that the other one doesn't. Pick the books that have interview tips and resume advice as well as the exam part. Hope that helps a bit.

hey Damian, I found Baron's Prep Book to be very helpful. It reminded me of some physics I have lost along the way as well as many practice tests. I was more than prepared when I went in to write (the second time). The first time I tried to wing it and just touched on each chapter... big mistake... the second time I wrote, I read the book from cover to cover and had no trouble with the exam! I think I only stammered over one question as I don't recall seeing an example of this equation in the book!

Good luck and study hard! Sue :)

Are you talking about Barron's Firefighter's Exam 4th edition?

Because accoring to www.recruitfirefighter.com
it is "An older, less effective guide, we do not recommend it"

I found it interesting that the book you said helped you so much, is also the ONLY one on the website which they warn people against....

That is pretty funny!!! I had no trouble what so ever with the exam after studying each page of the book. Like I said, there was one question I missed, because I hadn't seen it in the book, or a reference to it, but other than that, all of the equations and formulas that they went over were on the exam.

Interesting... it was a simple, easy book to read and study and I failed without it, passed with it... Go figure!!

I must agree with FFWannabe, I too used the Baron's before to help me get in fire etc., the only thing is that fire etc does not use a FF aptitude test so it didn't help me much there. It's an easy book to read and figure out, it's quick and just re-inforces all your basics like math, spatial, mechanical etc....

I just bought "The Complete Firefighter's Exam Prep Book" and I will let you guys and gals know how it is.
