Above tent city, wildfire flareups on Turtle Mountain glow in the night like orange stars. For the past three weeks, Alberta's elite helitac crews and rappel experts have been sleeping in a camp of 50 dome tents set up between the burning mountain and the town's main street. The young, fit firefighters -- part of the first wave who attacked the wildfire when it began raging July 23 -- are used to working 20 days straight in the middle of nowhere. What they're not used to doing is fighting to save entire towns and their citizens.
