Do your stations have a Local Hazard Inventory of some kind in house? And what's it called at your station?
Thanks much,
-Jon

We've got a number of pre-plans for various buildings. Mostly commercial and large or multiple residential properties.
I think part of the pre-plan there is a list of know and possible on site hazards, such as chlorine storage at the swimming pool or propane tank locations at restaurants, etc, etc. Some even go into detail about initial apparatus staging and whether or not certain trucks will fit down certain driveways, etc.
I don't think, however, that we have a specific or separate list just for hazards.

Like 26 said pre-plans with as much detail as possible. They not only help with hazards but fire ground ops. and a great way for members to get to know the community.

w00 someone finally got around to answering this one! Thanks fellas! Is this a binder? What form does it take and what is it called? Does dispatch have the information or do you simply study it to be familiar with the lay of each building?
Thanks again,
-Jon

hmm I thought I answered this one too... guess not.
We have a binder system in all trucks that dispatch also has a copy of... with our last dispatch center they had it linked to the mapping system they used... but we changed service providers and went backwards in technology...
Basicly ours consists of a map of the property, floor plan, and a list of allt he hazards as wellas intial responding unit positioning....Mutual aid departments also have copies.

Ours is a binder marked pre plans that is in the halls radio room. And the info is relayed by the radio op. Our dispatch does not have a copy it is all in house

Pretty much how Fred said. There is a master copy in the dispatch room at station 1, has detailed maps of the district showing addresses, cross referenced with a hydrant map, with certain properties having different colours to represent what kinds of pre-plans. IE, resident, commercial, industrial, etc.
The first due Engines (201 and 205) have scaled down copies as does, I think, the duty officer and chief's vehicles.
Ironically, our Engine seats 5 and I am consistantly the 6th person into the hall  so I've gotten pretty good at calling dispatch, confirming the address, looking it up in the books, and radioing to the duty officer any important information (such as a more accurate location, nearest hydrant and apporpriate pre-plan information).
