The Regina Fire Department (RFD) is investigating how calls to two garbage fires got lost in the midst of a rash of dumpster fires, forcing area residents from their beds to extinguish the flames. "Somebody should have responded in some way," said Dennis Gilmour, one of the residents from the 200 block of Lorne Street who helped put out the fires early Monday morning. RFD spokesperson Grant Nicurity said a dispatching error occurred at the height of a spate of garbage fire calls. The calls from the Lorne Street residents were never entered into the computer system, which meant firefighters weren't dispatched.
