Town of Truro - Fire Chief
The Town of Truro is seeking a Fire Chief to provide strategic and
operational leadership to the Truro Fire Service.
In this newly created management position reporting directly to the CAO,the Fire Chief is responsible for managing all activities of a composite organization consisting of approximately 10 career and 35 volunteer firefighters. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to; budget preparation and management, training, collective agreement administration, planning, developing operational guidelines, recruitment and direct responsibility for the delivery of effective and efficient prevention and emergency response services.
As the ideal candidate you bring a balance of education and the
demonstrated ability of building and participating as a member of
successful teams; preferably in a fire service environment. Your proven relationship building and problem-solving skills combined with your ability to communicate effectively have enabled you to consistently acquire consensus with stakeholders on significant issues. Your fire service credentials are supported by relevant post-secondary education,knowledge of adult education principles and working knowledge of relevant legislation and codes. An in-depth understanding of managing a composite fire service in a medium sized community will be key to your success.
