The rope-rescue crew from the Langford fire department spent an unusually busy evening in the Malahat area on Wednesday, answering calls that were virtually back-to-back. The group's expertise was needed only once, but the calls point out the benefits of having rope-rescue capability in a wide-ranging municipality like Langford, said Langford Fire Chief Bob Beckett. Beckett said the first call came in when three teens ventured too far up a rock face about two-and-a-half kilometres north of the entrance to Goldstream Park. They began yelling for help, prompting motorists to place numerous 911 calls.
