Hey folks I was looking to enlist in the full time pre-service @ Seneca but unfortunately they won't be starting up again till Sept. 2005. so I've been considering other colleges. Humber is one of them since they have a start-up in March. Just wondering if anyone has any input on the college they attended and if they enjoyed the program.

Humber is great, i honestly gotta say they have one of the best programs around, the instructors are very knowledgeable and the practical excersices are excellent

Since i took the Durham program part time, i thought it was a pretty solid course. The instructor's are great, knowledgeable and give you a good mixture of theory and practical.

Ive taken a few courses at Humber, and the instructors are great there too. Ive heard good things about both schools and to pick one over the other depends on maybe which one you live closer to.

Hope this helps...

Thanks guys! I'll be writing a test @ Humber this Saturday, wish me luck. If anyone has any pointers for the extrance exam please e-mail me at hyperplasia@gmail.com.

I went out to Chapters and picked up a fire exam book and have been reading that. Hope it helps.

Hiya. I am a current Seneca student. Are you aware that you can take the first semester through evening part time classes?
I wasn't either, so I only started full time in Sept. OSAP has made it possible to get a loan for part time studies now too so GOOD LUCK!!!

All Pre-Service courses have to teach the same curriculum set out by the Fire Marshalls office, so the schools cannot differ too much. I think it is more or less based on your location or if you want to travel elsewhere. I am in the course at St. Clair College and think it is Great! Our instructors are made of several full time firefighters from Windsor, as well as the Fire Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs from 4 or 5 surrounding counties. We get a vast knowledge of how different each department is run and a wider variety of information and training. Whichever school you decide, it is well worth it. Good Luck!
