Hi, I'm an Alberta Paramedic who's currently doing some time with the UN in Timor-Leste. I get to buy a new monitor for here and have only used LP10 and 12's. So am looking for feed back on other types. They will be used in a clinic, ground, rotory and fixed wing transport. Its friggin hot here too so has to stand up to heat.
Love to hear what anyone has to say.
Cheers

We are moving to the Zoll AED Pro (http://www.zoll.com/product.aspx?id=385).
I have only used it in training however so far it seems really good.
More audible prompts make it harder to screw up and the batteries last.....for years!!!
One problem I can see right now is that the prompts may be hard to hear in certain situations. Also, in the future is the impending failure of the batteries (charge level shown on screen) going to be noticed? The LED type screen may be hard to see in some conditions and it cannot be "back lit".

We are using the Zoll "M" series Biphasic, they come in a case with rubber bumpers etc that make them quite durable.
As first responders ours are programed to do 3 lead ecg's with printout and display, Spo2 and of course defibrillation.
Our local paramedics also use the M series but programmed to their level, 4 or 12 leads etc.
If we are doing defib they are compatible and can be switched over. Also allows for a good supply of batteries as they are all the same.
Fits, I love the looks of the new one you are using, easier and more compact, I am going to see if our medical guy in training has looked at them!
Zoll seems to be a very reliable product, we are on our second generation of Zoll units!

LP12's have the advantage of a 2 battery system, allowing you to change out if you are in the middle of a procedure (pacing) without interuption. ZOLL M series only has 1 battery.
I find the LP12's more durable overall as well as a multi ECG display, wheras the ZOLL only has a 1 lead display.
I have had nothing but trouble with the Zoll ETCO2 and its readings or the WARM UP period, the LP12 is simple and easy. LP12 also allows for nasal CO2 Readings with nasal prongs.
I would agree with fireemtguy as ive had the opportunity to work with both.
The lp may be a bit bigger but is much easier to work with. Nice to see they went back to black and gold screen that is readable in the sunlight to.
The etco2 thing is a very big thing as well, as there is no warm up period and it is usuable in patients that are not intubated. It is very eay to tell how much a patient is in respiratory distress with just a cannula, as well they get O2 at the same time with the same cannula.

I have used the LP12 for the past year, I would recommend them, very user friendly and even tho a little more expensive, you pay for what you get.

Thanks to all that have given their input. Like I said i have a lot of experience with LP12's at an ALS level, and all there functions, so am more interested in how they compare with Zoll and Philips.
Thanks again

There were reports of when the ZOLL went from battery to inverter/AC/DC power that the monitor falsely displayed some type of VT looking rhythm. I suggest contacting ZOLL to see if this problem was rectified.
ZOLL also brags about their CPR feedback option on the new E series. I have not worked with this and am curious about it and how well it works.

Has the moratorium on LP12 sales been lifted in Canada yet?

Yep it has. I noticed a memo up about 3 tours ago.
