In our township we only have one elementery school to attend and teach the school kids about fire prevention.
The reason for this thread is aquire ideas about how to teach these kids about the job we do and the prevention of fires, pass on type to there parents about the prevention and planing escape routes.
Right know we have some guys that love to teach the kindergarden to 1st grade, so these youngsters are looked after for the time being.
Grade 7 & 8 are given a fire extinghisher demonstration, if weather dictates.
As you can see grade 2 to grade 6 are a bit left out with ideas.
Every yeaar we bring all the vehicules to the school, a firefighter gets dressed in his gear with BA and goes from class to class to show what we look like when we work at a fire scene. We normally smoke the school with artificiel smoke, but since last year we can't because the fire/smoke alarm is to sensitive for this and is set off by this artificiel smoke.
The population of the school is approx. 90 to 100 students and approx 15 teachers and support staff.
I'm looking for ideas and suggestions to get the message across to these kids about the job we all do and fire prevention.
All ideas or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated before Sunday October 3rd, 2004.
