Does anyone know how I can get in contact with any Oil companies looking for fire fighters. Also, does anyone know of any countries that Canadians can apply to? Thanks for your help.

Hey Furstrated. I work in the oil patch on the exploration end of things. It is possilble to break in. There are a couple more avenues that you might be able to explore to get into the hydrocarbon FFing side. Alot of these companies have mobile medic units that go out to a well site and have someone on site 24/7. That would require a medical co-responce trianing. Another way is working as a on site safety hand responcilbe for setting up a air trialer and H2S (Hydrogen sulfide gas) detection equipment. and sometimes site gate security. When a H2S alrm goes off you would be responcealbe for a head count of all personell on site and locating the source of the alarm. Declaring all clear etc. Oil field knowledge is a great asset if you want to go FFing. The hydrocarbon guys go to blow outs and do well control. As well as Fire stand by on frac job acid jobs etc. Beside your fire trianing you will also require for ANY job in the patch a H2S ticket which is a one day course and costs about $130.00. Out here in Ab the patch is looking for hands in a big way. The Grande Prairie Daily Herald Tribue on any friday has at least 10 posting for people in the safety field. For some of these jobs you can end up in the bush for as long as 30 + days. I dont have any web links for ya but here are a couple more companies you can try. Fire Master. Fire Power, Splash and Dore. Safety Boss and Think Safety have combined to become QHSE. Good luck on your hunt.
