Just a general Gear question. Where do you keep you Gear and what colour is it? The poll lets you pick for both options. Mine is kept on the truck and is yellow.

So Much dirt on it I cant tell Holy; I really hope nobody answers that one. There are regs for care and Maintence of Bunker Gear. If you dont know check your copy of the Esentials IV.

Red_Devil mine is kept in the back of the Rescue Unit. That is where every one has the oppturnity to keep it. Even the full time Fire Fighters!! So it is enclosed!!

Hey what about tan coloured suits.
and if you keep yours in a vehicle ask the manufacturer what he thinks of that, or better yet, read the owners manual for your gear.....

It's not a good idea to keep it inside your vehicle or at home simply due to cross contamination. Most of you probably know that already though....

Our gear is kept in open ended and screened locker spaces at the hall. This allows air circulation and is easily accessible when the tones go off and it's time to roll.

DC's is stored on the Rescue Unit
Everone else's is on the Racks in the Hall.

Same here. Big cube van with all our bunker gear, chain saws, absorb-all. That kinda thing.

I keep it in my locker at work, our gear is tan and of much better quality then the yellow stuff we used to have

We have our gear at the hall on hangers aswell. I just got new gear (finally) and it is a dull yellow.

We carry our gear in our command unit with all individual compartments, and most of us have tan Globe Gear and some Starfield(not as good as the Globe GExtreme).

All gear at hall in lockers except Chief. And finally its all brown colour. Went from yellow Chieftan to Brown Cheiftan and now we are a mixture of older brown Chieftan and Brand new brown Starfield Lion.

depends on how long you've been in the dept. We have more people now then we have ever had so we've had to start buying new gear for officers and senior FF's. So we have a mix of yellow (for new FF's) and tan gear (older FF's)

And I do need to keep mine in the car so i leave in my gear bag and have that in a plastic bin in the trunk of my car. The only reason its there is because i work at a saw mill, we have two trucks stationed there so i need to leave my gear on one of the trucks every morning and take it home at night. Makes it easyier.

I've moved my gear 3 times, First I had a rack, then I kept it in my car, now I find it's easiest for me on the Rescue Unit, that Unit rolls on every call so this way if I can't make it to the hall before they roll I can show up on the scene. As for the gear, Our Chief decided that over the next couple of years all Front Line Fire Fighters will get brand new gear, I got mine earlier this year and it's awesome, fits like a glove! I would hate to have to go back to the old stuff.

We have both a mix of yellow and tan gear. Most are kept in a wire mesh open locker in the centre of the apparatus floor. Some of those that live further out of town keep it in their cars.

how many people carry their turnout gear in their personal possession ? Most people that I talk to, leave it at the station.

Ours is at the station.....rules out everyone heading straight to the scene, thinking "someone else" will bring the trucks
