We are looking to update our present RIT bag (a baseball bat bag) with something purpose built and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience (good or bad) with the original rit bag from ritbag.com or the true north bag. The bag will see and lot of training and will be abused so we want something tuff and versatile. We are open to other brands as well.
Thanks in advance.

Keep the bag as small and simple as possible. I keep reading comments about bags and the large amount of equipment some guys carry in them. I couldn't imagine lugging all that gear into a dangerous environment then still having energy to rescue a downed firefighter. The bag should be for the bare necessities....air/mask/rescue line/webbing. Most dept's don't have the luxury of 4/5 man RIT teams. Rescuing the firefighter isn't going to be a walk in the park....chances are you may be physically drained by the time you reach the area where that FF is located.....draggin a bag over 50lbs ain't gonna do you or the FF much good. If the bag is heavier than hell on the way in...it ain't gonna be lighter on the way out...especially if you plan on achieving your goal (rescuing the FF). That being said....the True North bags are nice....they drag very well.

We have the True North RIT bag, and it's held up to all the abuse our RIT Team throw at it, for actual RIT calls, as well as monthly RIT training scenarios. ;)

Hi,
We also use the True North T-1 RIT bag (http://www.truenorthgear.com/product_detail.php?path=2_7&p_id=27).
It's very well thought out. The only complaint that I have is that we have to take apart an air pack to fit a conected unit in the bag as it deosn't fit with the pack still on. We're using MSA Firehawk pack but with 2216 and 3000 psi bottles. I think it would go in with a 4500 bottle on it. MSA does sell a RIT setup (http://www.msanorthamerica.com/catalog/product861.html) that we would like to buy in the future. It looks to be compatible with the bag.

We have a 4500 Survive-Air in our bag. It had to be taken off the harness as well....but I can't see why you would even want the back harness left on it if it's for your RIT bag.
It also carrys the Survive-Air mask, regulaitor and trans-fill line.
