The union representing the city's firefighters says it's admirable the Calgary Fire Department wants to continue to hire good quality people of moral character, but using a polygraph test is not the way to achieve that goal. The fire department has revamped its recruiting process to include a polygraph test for applicants to ensure candidates it employs have at their core "honour, character and high moral standards." The department expects to hire 500 to 600 new firefighters in the next six to eight years.
