I do don't believe fire pagers are like cell phones where you can change the sound of the tones. When our dispatcher goes through our test pages and I'm at the hall, I can tell that all the pages are different but not by much. Each frequency has their own tone and changes with the frequency. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It is my belief that the cap codes used for each pager tone set off a specific tone on the carrier frequincy that in turn is sensed by the pagers that are programed to that tone and in turns opens up the pager. You can not change your pager tone because than you will not get your pages, you may get someone else's though, and that should really impress your wife or significant other at 2 in the morning.

All right... enough with the flame war here, we're all grown-ups now... and I really don't want to have to start moderating everything all the time -- we've got enough to keep us busy here at Firehall.com

We don't need to take these things to a private message level either. People disagree, this is the nature of humans, and the nature of text is that it is cold and expressionless and that can often result in something sounding a lot more offensive than was initially intended. If anyone feels that someone is being exceptionally offensive, please let us know, otherwise ignoring someone goes a lot further. This is a free service for exchanging information between Canadian firefighting and rescue personnel, we don't need our team divided over trivial bickering.

Paula, im not a bad man!! :) I just like to express my opinion cause thats the way i am! I dont know what the others think i do believe im good for this site, it would be too boring if everyone shared the same points! I like to play the devils advocate!! I dont mean any harm to anyone on here, alls im doing is truely expressing my own opinion and adding some interesting points from the otherside of the fence, and getting the forums going as well, look at the scba one, 3 pages i think, not to bad! Anyways like i said i dont mean any harm im just expressing my own opinion, i think that is one reason why this site exists besides to share information.
happy posting!!!

My tones sound pretty close to THIS (http://www.american-firefighter.com/wavs/lrffpdtones.wav)
...it sounds like the first tones you hear, the low high, without the beeping... sounds like a minitor pager thats going off....

Thats awesome!!! My pager sounds like that in a way. Its weird though some days we can hear the tones, and we always hear the beeps. If you listen to the page from a truck radio you just hear the tones. I always have liked to hear the tones first, then you don't jump out of your seat as high. The beeps get ya sometimes. I just reached for my pocket when I downloaded these tones. But my pager is 400km's away right now. :( I sure miss it.

Why can't all pagers for firefighters say something like "Wake the hell up!!" Shocking, but it'll work!
Or "Hey there, since you are such an asset to our team, we need your help NOW!!!" Now that works for moral!
Put a funny spin on pager notifications,......... LOL :p
