Seven years as a grunt before being appointed an Acting LT. Best position I ever had... the radio and rank of an LT, but still with the yellow hat so I am always in the trench getting dirty :)

On the administration side I have filled in pretty much everywhere. SCBAs is my "official position" but I have been Equipment Officer, Training Officer, Assistant Engineering Officer, Medical Officer, Administration, etc. In addition to being chair on both the Engine (2001) and Rescue (2005) purchasing committee's and helping re-write ALL of the department's SOGs.

Above all else I am like being a grunt with a yellow hat.

Im a fireground grunt as well. Ill do anything and everything on the scene. Ive always gone in thinking that no job is too minor/less important at a call. Ill happily do anything from roll hose/change air bottles to throw on a scba and head into the fire.
