Was talking to one of our local cheifs today, and he mentioned he has started to use Murphy's Oil Soap in his pumps to keep the valves lubricated.
According to him, you attach a length of 21/2 hard-suction to an intake (get it mostly filled with water), add half a bottle of soap, attach the intake to a 2 1/2 outlet then let the water circulate. Work all the valves controls to coat the ball-valves on both sides.
Has anybody else tried this?

Sounds interesting, guess if you are going to use the stuff around the station you will need the MSDS:D

Isn't Murphy's a vegtable oil based soap?
I would be concerned about residue gumming things up over time but I just read a bottle we have at home and it says no residue so it might actually be good.
I am interested to find out as well because we just purchased a pumper that has been sitting for two years and there is a fair amount of "gunk" that needs to be worked out of the pump.
If there are a few others that have tried it we may give it a shot as well.

The pump would sure smell nice :) and Murphy's is biodegradable as well.

IT WOULD BE INTERESTING NO FIND OUT MORE INFO ON THE SUBJECT,
I use to lub the stainless balls with vaseoline but they claim the neoprime balls dont requie any lubercation.
