Greetings everyone!

Does anyone have any input on the course offered at in Macomb county? I was reccommended it by some guys around here as an alternative to fire etc. Yes...I would love to go to the Alberta school but I am a single mother of 4 and the financing and childcare problems would be unthinkable.

This school would allow me to comute home on the weekends, maybe even pick up a couple shifts to cover the bills!

I called them and they are NFPA 1001 and they state you recieve the firefighter level 2. I didn't know that applied up here until I read about it in another thread.

One guy who recommended was hired straight on the London Department. I just hesitate because it's not on the OFM 'list'.

Anyone?

thanks

You might want to try Conestoga College. The college has both a full time and part time pre-service fire fighter program.

I'm probably biased since I'm in the Conestoga program, but I agree with jamielopes. Conestoga's program is flexible enough for me to work decent hours on the side, so if you think that you could handle the workload on top of managing the rascals...all power to you. If you are wanting to work on top of all that too, then it all depends how much time you think you'll have.

Good luck in your inquiries

It definately looks like the Conestoga program is a good one, but also a very popular one! They aren't even enrolling new applicants in 2004!(pt)

I have decided to bite the bullet and apply to Fire etc as well as Macomb...I'll be going to one of them next spring.

Good luck guys.

Hello everyone,

I've been reading your comments on schools and i thought they where all very interesting. I completed the Emergency Services Technologist program at Fire ETC and found it did a very good job for preparing me for a career in the Emergency Services. I have only gone through two competitions for firefighter jobs and have placed #1 in both competitions. One competition had just short of 900 applicants and the other had about 130. I highly recomend the EST program to all people interested in pursuing a career in emergency services.

Right on Aaron...the EST program looks like the way to go IMO. If I had the opportunity I'd be there too. The school has an awesome rep around here. I have pretty much decided to do thier fire program in the spring...caaaan't wait. I'll get the EMT on the side.

I'd wish you the best of luck but I don't think you'll need it! Aw...good luck anyway!
