Any extra staffing for halloween night?? We usually man a couple extra hose wagons ( spare rigs ). Like most departments it is a very busy night for us....but no worries for me cuz i got the night off. But some call out would be nice!!!:D :D

We have no manning of spare rigs or anything extra on Oct. 31.
I do not find that night to be any busier than other nights.

Makes 2 of us Billy, Generally i find halloween quiet just like any other holiday well except for newyears eve of course.
I dont see the need to man extra trucks, heck i never heard of that one before

Nothing special here, Some of us will do patrols, but thats about it. Generally its more of a police issue.
Besides with this freaking cold snap and snow on the ground I imagine it will be a very quite night.
You want to see a night of a lot of action. Areas that Celebrate Guy Fawkes (sp) night, Now there's a busy night for the fire service. Every nut bar with a match is out.

I asked and there is no extra manning this year. But is was past practice out here. As for it being a busier night for us that is still the case. The only explanation I can think of is the same reason i have a 1:15 tee time at Golden Eagle Golf course today. People in the Lower Mainland are still out doing things in late October cuz it isn't 20 below zero. ;) ;)

We don't get any busier on gate night either-----I think it might go hand in hand with bigger crime areas, remember the problems Detroit was having with "devil's night" a while ago? Here in "fort" the most we see on gate night is a few thrown eggs or some soaped windows--------knock on wood! ;)

Are firework's allowed on halloween in your city or are they banned. Just saw on the news that the Lower Mainland of BC is one of the only places in Canada that have firework's on halloween. Is that true???

The town does not put one on. But if you fill out the paperwork you can usually get permission.

Halloween isn't big here, its Guy Fawkes Night (Bonfire Night) that causes all the trouble

Should be a quieter one this year with all the fireworks restrictions in the lower mainland and halloween on a Monday. Vancouver however hasn't gone as far as other cities with an all out ban so we will see what happens......BC......

Halloween night is pretty much the same as any other night around here as far as calls go. Don't think that there will be any fireworks either...the only ones I can think of that we tend to have around here this time of the year is after a Stampeder's game.
We do have a few small added responsibilities on Halloween night though. All residential fire halls are designated "safe spots"...in other words places where kids can come if they get lost or in trouble for whatever reason. Also, we team up with police and EMS to patrol our districts in the rigs during peak trick or treating hours. More or less just to keep neighborhoods safe and to provide assistance to anyone that may require it. Oh and we have been known to carry a bit of candy on the trucks for the little ghosts and goblins too! :)

Use to be a Gong Show out here in years past. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage directly related to fireworks and countless injuries......BC.....
