A unexpected high pressure zone was hit, they could not control the kick, the BOP was overwhelmed and the gas was sent to the flare. The flare turned into a fire ball, soon after the manifold failed and the heat and gas started it on fire, soon after that the entire rig was a blaze. It burned a long time. How's that?

Pretty generic. From what I hear they had thier mud wieght down. Rippen on er for ROP took a hit could wieght up fast enough. While working well control took gas to atmoshpere close to well bore down by the shakers got a spark the mud tanks cooked off and it all went west from there. Just tryin to filter some BS. How close is that version??

The mud tanks did get hit with gas and mud was blown around the lease, but I don't think the fire started there.

Drilling rig, well blow out. Almost everything destroyed in the fire. I think the cause is still under investigation.

Sorry guys didnt mean any cloak and dagger threads. Like Snider said its about an oil well blowout in NE BC. The Oil patch is a great place, I you dont hear a story by noon start one. For this particular incident there are about 25 versions kickin around.

The fire was put out a while ago. A second well was drilled to kill the bore on this first well. The second well is now going to be the production well I heard. A bit of excitement for a slow drilling season............

Hey GK, I am not trying to be an ass, but; for reps from your company there were only 3 there that were on site and I know you were not, maybe on the road to, but I know one of the 3 that were there at the start and then left. Tom telephoned the ones on site after the incident and read them the ride act to protect the customer's privacy as everyone speculates and runs with their version of the story. Please be careful, I still would shake your hand and you have worked with many lackies at Firemaster, as have I, and you want the name maintained. There are some high names from customers' companies oddly enough browsing here.

The grammer and punctuation in some of these posts really doesn't help make things any less cryptic. Must be a stipulation in the Ride Act to speak (type) in tongues so that mere mortals like ourselves can't understand what's going on.
