A fire south of Grand Forks in Washington State has ceased its advance towards the border and smoke conditions in the Boundary were much better Sunday than they were during the early stages of the fire last week. The Togo Mountain fire has expanded by about 25 per cent over the past week and now covers 2,100 hectares. The fire is holding about 700 metres south of the international boundary at an elevation of 900 metres.
