An international fire chiefs conference begins today in Calgary, with 95 top officials attending from Canada, the United States, Britain and Hong Kong. Guest speakers at the International Metro Chiefs Conference include U.S. Undersecretary Mike Brown from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as well as Dr. Richard Carmona from the U.S. Surgeon General Office. The focus of the three-day event will be how major fire departments can forge more efficient partnerships within their communities. The Metro Fire Chiefs Committee is an international organization made up of more than 180 fire chiefs from North America, Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa and Great Britain.
