Kelowna Fire Chief Gerry Zimmermann joked during a news conference Sunday that the fire department had received many gifts and well-wishes, but it could use some cold beer. Within hours, residents delivered cases and cases of frosty ale to the firehall. On Monday, the chief laughed that he now had enough cases to send one home with each of the out-of-town firefighters who have come to Kelowna to help with the blazes.
