My new work location has put in a gym. It has treadmills, stair machines and others and free weights. I would like to get my cardio or endurance increased and would like to firm things up a little. Belly, arms, legs, neck.

Could someone tell me a good schedule for the maximum performance for a 5 day schedule.

Eg. Day 1 - Treadmill?
Day 2 -weights?
Day 3 - Treamill?
Day 4 - Weights?
Day 5 - Treadmill?

Not sure if there is a better formula or how this works. When going the weighs is there a repitition formula.

I found a personal trainer really helped. He customized everything to my body type and set up a meal plan with supps and it really made a difference. If that doesn't suit you, try picking up a fitness magazine or book from chapters that lays out specific plans. Some bodies respond better than others so figuring out the right plan will save you time and effort. Good Luck.

Find a good personal trainer in your area. You made no mention of nutrition in your post, leading me to believe that you dont understand how important it is in achieving your goals. Get a trainer, ask them a lot of questions, learn as much as you can, then continue on a lifetime of fitness and wellness.

It only takes a weekend course to be a personal trainer, and have you noticed most personal trainers are not muscle crawling freaks. I wouldnt be taking advice from someone fatter then me LOL

If you looking to burn fat and muscle up train my routine, it was made for me by a professional body builder www.fedelclarke.com

1 muscle group per day, with 20 minutes cardio, abs every other day

monday- chest
tuesday- back
wednesday- shoulders
thursday- Legs
friday- Off
saturday- ARMS
OFF

Diet

Breaky= 3-4 eggs, whole wheat toast, an orange
snack= protein shake
lunch= tuna sandwich + mixed nuts
snack=protein shaje
dinner= chicken ( or any type of lean meat not processed) veggies+ your choice of carb
snack/after workout = protein shake with a light carb

During the winter months i switch to compound movements, aka bench presses and deadlights /squats/rows ect ONLY

This program has worked wonders for me

Hope it helps

let me kno if i can advise you in any way

Being new to body building, one body part per day might be just a little intense. A full body routine two or three times a week with cardio every day except for a couple of recovery days might be just the thing to get you started. Like previusly stated, a trainer or a good book would be a great start.

Everything everyday.I dont really know where the 20 minute cardio myth came from....well there was that TV show. You need min 40 to reap cardio beneifit at a moderate work load 60 plus to acheive optimal fat loss.Interval training is more beneficial according to not only the PT trainer I owe getting hired at 40 to, but several friends with phys ed degrees.

I have just started doing the CPAT prep workout because I have become bored with much of what I have been doing lately. Its a good starter program with a total body workout and a run.I do it three times with a 6-12 minute hill climb or cross country bike in between sets.On off days I do the weight free program.they provide suggested reps/weights but you use what is comfortable for you.Check out the link in the program thread.

I have done all the heavy one body part workouts, pyramiding, reps to failure etc.I have found the ones I prefer now as an old(er) man encompass more crosstraining and total body.I find the results more tangible .

id email fedel, and get him tell him what your goals are... and give him sometime to look over it and come up with a program and diet

Working with him my body fat went from 15% too 7% in 5 months

and my weight increased from about 190 to about 205

just an amazing trainer, if you can get over the fact he's so big he cant even whipe his own ass without the use of an aid to help him with the reach ahahah

Now that's something to put on your resume!!!!

I think that's where the role of a Probie comes in.......
