Ambulance has released the name of Michael Gray as the paramedic who died in the line of duty yesterday. In BCAS as a paramedic for 10years+ he was on his drive day when shortly after being cleared of VGH and while on route back to their area, he suffered some sort of medical emergency on route and ended up hitting some parked cars. He and his partner were extremely talented medics and being only several blocks from VGH he was given immediate treatment by his partner and shortly after 2 near by ALS crews as well as a BLS crew and Vancouver fire. Unfortunately he did not survive. Too young to go and i sincerely hope his family will be blessed in this tough time. I know this site is geared towards fire service but, it is nice to see the family of emergency services pull together as one like we always do and pay our respects and appreciation for the thousands and thousands of lives he has entered and altered. Rest in peace Mike. never forget.

On behalf of myself, and members of the Parksville Fire Department, I extend sincere condolences to Michael's family, and members of the B.C. Ambulance Service. Fire fighters, paramedics, and police officers work together everyday, and a loss of any member of the emergency services family affects us all.

Rest in peace Michael.

I was fortunate enough to meet Michael on several occassions. He is a good paramedic and a outstanding person. My condolences go out to his family, friends and co workers.

Sadly, Mike's last run was a medical call in Burnaby, that also involved my crew. After loading the patient, I patted him on the back, never imagining it would be for the last time.
My deepest sympathy to Mikes family and esteemed members of the BCAS.
