Hey,
I was just wondering if anyone knows any info, or has gone through the Canadian Force's Med Technician program. When you graduate and finish your obligatory service, your civillian status is a PCP. (CMA Approved.) Thanks for your feedback!

I looked into the Med Tech several years ago. If you are able to travel and don't have a problem with deployments then it might be for you. To my understanding the training is CMA approved everywhere except Ontario (but that might have changed since) Best course is to check your local recruiter (don't let them push you into any other trade!!)
Good luck
It is my understanding, and I could be wrong, that once you finish you will be a PCP however, you are not able to practice outside the military. I believe you will have to redo another course civi side or take an equivilency. I could be wrong on that but I know that there is a lot of people that go Med Tech and end up not being able to work civi. Like I said I think this is the way it is, and I could definately be wrong. I would reccommend talking with a recruiter and then talking with a med tech that is working, you can usually talk with one at the recruiting center.

When I was I skipped the QL3 training as I was already accredited with the PCP program. That said the training in 38 Brigade was all being done out of NAIT in Edmonton which was accredited at that time. when I was going to re-up as a SAR Tech the training was at the Justice Institute out of BC... which is also accredited.
Contact you local Field Ambulance for more info...
Hope that helps.
