A grass fire starts on the boundary between a city and a township. The fire gets called in and the dispatcher decides to send the full time city crew since they are waiting in the station, and not to bother the volunteer firefighters who protect the township. So the city guys roll with one engine and arrive on scene and start hosing down the fire. But the fire quicky gets out of control and spreads to a near by farmers field of corn. The fire is now very large and the city captian calls dispatch for mutual aid. Dispatch nows decides to page out the volunteer crew, and asks for their pump and tanker. A crowd had gathered now, and are watching as the fire is getting close to a farm house. Just as the captian picks up his radio to ask dispatch where in the world the volunteer crew is, they here sirens coming down the road. The Fulltimers and crowd watch as the Volly pumper comes sliding around the corner, almost on two wheels and continues to flys past them right into the middle of the fire and they slide to a hault right in the smoke and heat!! The volly crew all jumps off the truck and there're pulling hoses and running around and spraying water every which way!! They finally gew the fire under control after many tense minutes and start to pack up their gear to head back the their hall. The farmer sees the excellent job they did and comes over to congradulate the brave and herioc volly firefighters who braved all that smoke and heat to save his corn field.
"Wow you guys did an awesome job! You saved my field!" the farmer crys.
The captain replies, "Well thank you sir, we appreciate it"
The farmer says, "Here's a donation of $1000, you guys deserve it so much. Buy some new equipment with it!"
The captain, overwelmed with such a generous gift, thanks the farmer. "Thank you very much"
The farmer, with a smile so wide, asks the Captain if there is any particular piece of equipment that the department is looking to buy, curious to what his money will be spent on.
The captain quickly replies, "Ya we're gonna get some new brakes for this damn truck!!"
