I'm planning on going to this college in the near future. My main problem is that I'm kind of confused in what courses to take. I have a few friends currently in the force, but, figured that I'd bother you all first. I've wanted to become a firefighter since I can remember. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Kyle,
Your search is quite easy. If you've monitored trends in Emerg. Services you will notice the majority of services require a minimum EMR(emergency medical responder), and an NFPA-1001 from an accredited school. Look at a course that offers both NFPA training and medical. Alot of places are actually looking for EMT's. Fire-etc is a college in Vermilion that offers a great program to suit all your needs. Go into the resource links section of firehall.com and it will list a variety of training agencies. Best of luck.

Kyle, I noticed it said Manitoba Emergency Services College on your post. If you are looking for a year long program you come out of there with just about every credential you can think of. I applied and made it to the interview and bombed that when I was 18. Check it out if you haven't already go to www.firecomm.gov.mb.ca/

Euro...you can apply to get into the Public Fire Protection program where you get everything, Level 2/PCP and more. If you are on a volly dept. you can take any course for free, but you cannot really just walk up and take a course like at any other college.. :)

Just to qualify...as long as it's a volly dept in Manitoba.
