There is a Company in Killarney, MB called PATINC that has come up with a SD card for Garmin nuvi GPS that has all the farms in western Canada by Section, Township, and Range. I saw a demo of it awhile back at the Western Farm Progress Show in Regina And it was very impressive. I'm going to pick one up soon so I can tell if a call is Between my work and the Firehall, Not much point in going all the way there to come all the way back if I don't have too. This is the web site. http://www.patinc.info/products.htm

Any idea if it works with a tomtom one?

We have been using the Garmin Nuvi with the western canada program since January. All of the back roads are in it and farm access roads. Nice thing about it, we usually get our calls with a land location, not a lat and long. This unit will let you plug it in and go.

Has a detour function as well. You still need some local knowledge. Technology is great, but common sense is still better.

Does Garmin make a hand held version of the -nuvi- or is there just the vehicle mount?
