High Prairie Fire Department, with the help of the Park Theatre owners, Mitchell and Janice Kachnic, are turning up the heat in their efforts to buy a new rescue truck.
Blake Noecker, deputy fire chief, says the department is hoping area residents show their support by attending the Dec. 1 showing of Ladder 49 at the High Prairie Park Theatre.
"The theatre owners themselves have generously donated all the ticket sales from that evening to us."
Earlier this month the department sent out letters asking area organizations, businesses and governments to contribute with any kind of a donation. The Kachnics decided to make their donation this way, says Noecker.
"It's a unique way of making their donations," he adds.
Most people don't realize the importance of an emergency response vehicle like a rescue truck. They respond to motor vehicle accidents and in the event of a large structure fire, provide additional transportation for firefighters.
