Smokejumping on the move?

Does anyone know anything about the rumour of Parattack moving to the Cariboo? I am currently on a unit crew in the Cariboo and would love to apply to the program, but living in Fort St. John and working in the 'skeg have been deterants. I would definetly apply if they moved south though, has anyone heard what the word is on this?

There have been rumors of this since I was with them (i left in 2005)...they expanded to a satalite base in Chetwynd in 2006 with a few crews (but as far as i know they never jumped). Funding is always an issue and the program has been constantly trying to prove itself since its inception in 1998.

From what i know Williams Lake is a place they have shown interest in because of its central location, but they have not yet been able to prove to the powers that be that it is necessary for them to be there. Besides I dont think CIFAC would appreciate them taking over the Williams Lake Airport either.

They may have experessed interest in expanding to the Cariboo..... but it wont be anytime soon,

If i were you i'd and you really want to join, apply regardless of where they are....if they move to a more desirable location, more people will take interest, thus making it that much harder to get in..

just my two cents ive been out of the forestry game since the end of Summer 06 so this is just what i know of from when i was there
