Firefighters battling the province's still-raging forest fires had a simple message for B.C. residents Monday: Get out of our way. Fire information officer Kirk Hughes said "fire tourists" in Kelowna are making it increasingly difficult for firefighters to do their job. "People are getting in the way," Hughes said. "They are venturing into areas that are still active operations." Hughes said people are travelling into Kelowna's outer suburbs to view the more than 200 homes destroyed last week and into the woods to see the still-raging fires first-hand.
