The way fire services are managed and delivered in Vancouver will go under the microscope after city councillors agreed Tuesday to spend $329,982 to conduct a detailed fire operations review.

The review comes as the city prepares to replace 21 front-line fire trucks, beginning in 2012.

sorry i'm slow...but is this a bad thing? seems like they are going to do an "audit" type deal and see what is going down, but does this mean more funding? ie. more housing and such, needs more equipment and action?

It's being sold to the guys as a good thing by management. That makes me suspicious already. One thing about a review is you never know what the recomendations will be. I don't think the city is dropping 300,000 to find out we need more Firehalls and manpower. Guess we will see what happens in about a year.

I'm pretty skeptical about anything that comes out of city hall in Vancouver these days. Hopefully you guys get your contract settled before then. I doubt this report will have a lot of good news in it.

They could have saved their money, fired most of management and accomplished the same thing , with almost enough left over to buy a new truck
