Duty calls and firefighters in the North Peace have responded. We are proud to be going, said George Barber, former Taylor fire chief and one of five volunteer firefighters from the Taylor Fire Department that left for Vernon on Thursday afternoon. We will be doing our part to help out because we are needed. Barber, Ryan Davey, Ken Jones, Ray Ensz and Chuck Rattray from Taylor and Fort St. John Fire Chief Jeff Lambert and fire fighter Simon Caughill have all been deployed to the southern interior as the forest fires continue to rage in and around the Kamloops and Kelowna areas. This is the opportunity of a lifetime to do this, Davey said. It feels good to help people out.
