We are currently designing our dream truck hopefully it will arrive early in the new year.
It is our hazmat truck with command vista 3 door cab with wrap around computer desk and library, mobile data terminal, subdued lighting, 390 hp CUmminis diesel, Allison automatic transmission, all compartment doors are rollups with heated compartments, side awning, walk thorugh rear chassis with work and research stations, large on board generator, hose reels for electrical cords and air hoses. SCBA mounted in compartment on rotating carousel, gound effects lighting, mobile data terminal and to add some splash---- chrome rims.
We are like kids waiting for Christmas to come in anticipation of our truck.

BB, we are doing the same here. We are getting two new Hazmat rig's, one for each team in the city. The old one's have seen better day's to say the least. Not sure who got the contract to build them but they are coming next year as well. I saw the plan's for them and they look pretty cool, lot's of bells and whistle's so to speak. What company got the contract for T.O.'s new truck??......BC....

The truck chassis is from Spartan and the rear work area will probably be built be Dependable in Brampton, Ontario.
I got bad news from our Apparatus Division Chief this past week. I called him to check on our delivery date and he told me that someone forgot to order the truck from Spartan.
There was some confusion with the adding of another heavy rescue squad to the order and our truck got dropped.
He says that our truck is back on the order and he has asked for it to be a rush.
I would like to see the plans and specs for your new truck. We are calling departments all over North America that have ordered or are odering new haz trucks. We want to get the best for our truck and are looking to steal from others. I have just put a call into Detroit, Washington D.C. and Houston.
We do not want our truck to arrive and then say damn we should have put this on our truck.

Speaking of seeing better days. The last time I saw a show and it had Rescue 3 on it, the truck looked like an old bread truck. Are all the rescues in Vancouver now the Frieghtliner Crew Cabs like Stn. 2 has?

If I was on I would like a truck that you could drive while laying on your stomach, while being given a nice back rub to by a beautiful woman named Ingrid (Standard option by the way!). Sorry I can dream can't I?

Hello. I love older Canadian rigs (I'm a big Thibault fan), but as far as current day, these Peterbilt/CustomFire rigs bring me to my knees:

We have 7 rescues in Vancouver all similar to 2's. I think thats a little overkill, one heavy rescue for each battalion is the way to go I think. The ones we have now are like pick up trucks and are limited in the equipment they can carry. Take away 4 of these "pick ups" and you can man two more engine companies, or use the manpower to make the heavy rescues 4 man rig's. Don't know if it will happen but i know the idea has been thrown around a bit downtown......BC.........

So the "Heavy Rescues" you are talking about like at Stn. 2(I keep using that as an example, as its the one I know) are only manned with 2 ff's? I agree with you about the elimination of a few of the rescues and adding more ff's to the other rescues. I think if they added another 2 engine companies like you mention, they would a) Have to build another station. b)Occur the cost of buying 2 more engines or do they have them available already.

Wouldn't need to build another station, we have a few one piece hall's in the city with an empty bay. We have 13 new engines out to tender right now and a few spares so I don't think that would be a problem. By "heavy Rescue" i'm refering to something along the lines of this..............BC.....

If you look at the Galleries page then to the Apparatus, I have posted a pic of Rescue 2 here in Nanaimo. It carries the Jaws, cribbing, etc. Also the First Responder gear.
