Curious to know what type of saws you guys use, in particular the chain tooth profile if you use chainsaws. Bullet chain,Raptor or the new RDR chain from Stihl? If you are using rotary cut-off saws what blades do you find work best for different applications.

Bullet tooth carbide on a ventmaster.Which i believe are made by johnsruud
Our rotary has the general purpose blade on it as a rule but we will change the blade to suit the task.

We run the "Echo" saw in this site. http://www.firehall.com/forum/showth...saws#post84727
Just not sure what size. We find it works well.

We have two Husqvarna rotary vent saws with general purpose blades. Haven't used them much, as a chain saw works much faster and doesn't bog down in asphalt shingles.
We recently acquired a K12 saw, with a very aggressive blade. Although we haven't used it at a fire yet, I can see this saw being deployed much more than the rotary saws.
Stay safe !!

I have used blades similar to that "rescue runner" blade on concrete and aggregate related materials. It works well, and its not too bad with any ferrous metal either, as long as it is a thinner gauge. Im not sure how it would preform with wood. The teeth just dont seem aggresive enough for that type of material, then again I have never used it on timber, it may work great.

"The Partner" with a Chopper blade. That'll get the job done

By the time us POC's get to a scene out here in rural areas, most structures have self vented. I believe I remember reading CFD no longer allows roof operations. (here in the hall). recip saws used for most times a saw is needed.

Any idea why they don't allow roof operations?

I thought they still do roof ops. I'm sure someone on the site will have a definative answer.
