I think that is a great "Bill" that should be passed. I support 100%! I am not sure if we here in BC have a medal like that? As Paramedics, I feel we put our lives on the line just as much as firefighters or Police officers. We all respond to the same scenes for the most part.

Correct and medics only enter when its secured.they certainly should have a medal for bravery.Just dont confuse doing your job day to day and putting your life on the line as a medic or ff or copper for that matter.

Yes! We will only go into a potential dangerous scene only after it has been cleared by the fives and dispatch has told us it is secured by the fives. I also ment to put down on my last post, fire fighters put their lives in danger by going into burning buildings and police dealing with violent situations, we as paramedics deal with the danger of getting poked with a contaminated needle, vomit, blood that has been contaminated. So I feel we all in some way put our lives on the line day in and day out!

Not picking a fight.I have been on both sides and know where you are coming from.I would just like to see it awarded for the appropriate reasons.

We had in house awards in TO.One crew would do sumpin truly above and beyond and nothing would be done.Another crew coughaskisscough clear a boarding house full of smoke....from a toaster, and they get awarded a hero badge.

Oh, of course I fully understand what you are saying. I agree it should only be awarded for people who deserve the medal. It just would be nice if the paramedics in Ontario got recognized for their actions and that goes for all provinces. For me, ya it would be nice to get a medal if I was to do something above and beyond, but knowing I have helped somebody is very satisfying to me and long as I feel good about what I have done and my superiors recognize that. I am Happy.
