Lightning strikes caused dozens of new forest fires yesterday. Despite rain on the coast, fire officials said little rain fell in the Interior and the Kootenays, where large fires are raging. "It's very difficult for us to predict what the winds are going to do," said fire information officer Steve Bachop. "We're just trying to stay on top of these new fires as quickly as we can."
