KELOWNA, B.C. (CP) - The 750 people evacuated from the Sun Peaks all-season resort northeast of Kamloops remained the only ones under evacuation order Tuesday as damper, cooler weather helped firefighters across the province. The Sun Peaks evacuation order was issued last weekend when the McGillivray Lake fire threatened the area, but that concern has eased considerably across the southern Interior due to rain and cooler temperatures. A spokeswoman for the Provincial Emergency Program said of almost 2,500 forest fires in total this year, 23 threatened homes or communities.
