A bunch of hunters are sitting around the lodge one rainy Saturday afternoon telling old stories. As they finish going around the circle, they plead with Old Earl to tell them a good one.
Now Earl is about 95 years old and has been silent up until this point. After some prodding he finally gets his walker, stands up and starts spinning his yarn.
Earl tells the guys about trying to hunt the biggest Grizzly bear in BC. He was just a young man of 20 , when he went out to the BC interior in search of this bear who reportedly stood 13 feet tall on her hind legs. Earl told of how they camped with the Native Indians who acted as their guides everyday. For two weeks they tried to track this beast and no luck.
"Finally" Earl said, "on the last day, I decided to go out and try to find her by myself. After searching all day and coming up empty-handed, I decided to head back to camp to have dinner with the guys on the last night. As I came around a bend, on the trail in front of me, not 10 feet away stood that bear. She turned, saw me, stood up - all 13 feet of her and went RRRRRROOOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRRR! . And I just shit myself!"
They fella next to old Earl said, "Man Earl, if that thing was as big as you say she was, I would've shit myself too!!"
To which Earl replied - "NO, no - just now when I went RRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRRRR! - I shit myself!"
