Here are a few pictures from when I was up doing policing in a remote Northern Community. The fire department volunteers were unable to get to the call and this is what took place.

Where was this fire? It looks an awful lot like a fire that occurred in a First Nations Community close to where I live.

This was in Pikangikum in North Western Ontario. I'd imagine the fires all pretty much look the same on the FNC's as unfortunately the standard of living isn't all that high and the homes are not in good shape at all.

The fire that I was thinking of occurred in Northern BC. The driveway, porch, door and wondow positions, the trees and the snow on the ground is what were similar.

I would imagine that the layout of most of the First Nations Communities across Canada is quite similar. I had to fly to Attawapiskat last night to pick up a Mental Health Act patient and couldn't help but notice that the layout when going to land in Attawapiskat was the same as the layout when I landed to do my two weeks in Pikangikum.

What were the circumstances that meant the FD couldn't get to the call? Looks like there's some kinda plowing thats been done around the house. Did your ol' Crown Vic make it out there or did they send you in on snowshoes?

Likely because they didn't have the equipment, if they did it likely wasn't functional. Or they didn't have anyone to run it. It's almost like a 3rd world country there. Boogs can tesify to that. No crown Vics up there...... Suburbans or Excursions. The local police force folded so OPP have been doing the policing there for the better part of the last 3 years. Most doing 2 week stints at a time staying in the not the best accomodations! The fishing there is superb so I've heard!
Good fishing, huh? They've probably got a few of those sexy new 2500's rolling around too. Something I'll have to keep in mind.
