You can find info and I believe the video on the CFBT-US web page, the cfbt blog, dated april 30, 2009.

What is interesting is that the video got "pulled".

Here are some of his comments and words:

"Too much safety makes Johnny a poor leader and a terrible rescuer," he said.

"Attempting to make the job safer by teaching you to place yourself above those in need is wrong and goes against everything the fire service has ever stood for,"

"Firefighters should be willing to risk their lives to save total strangers,"

"When a parent meets you outside their house and tells you their precious child is inside trapped, you're their last hope," Lt. McCormack said.

"If it was easy, someone else would've done it already."

If firefighters stop taking risks when needed to save lives, the fire service faces "falling from public grace" and the "loss of our identity."

Lt McCormack said the "constant barrage" of safety messages is undermining our "sworn duty."

"If you put out the fire, safety is accomplished for everyone on the fireground," he said.

Whether you agree completely, partially or not at all, it makes for good discussion.

Apparently his key note speech polarized groups on both sides and resulted in some unpleasant bashing in the modern world of online forums and blogs.

I'll keep an eye open for this infamous video.

There was a hell of a debate about it on another forum. Made for an interesting read. I think it was around 44 pages.

My understanding on why the actual video was pulled from a few websites is because at the Lt. was wearing an FDNY uniform......

you wont find it anywhere. I have looked for it all over the place. Too bad, because it was a good speech.
