Cut 10 helmet bands out of the inner tube and sell 'em to your buddies for 2 bucks. $6 investment, $20 return. Thats an impressive profit given the economic climate we live in these days.

If you can find an actual car, truck or trailer tire inner tube that will work better, and hold up longer, but they're a little more difficult to find than the wheel barrow or cart dolly tubes. Either way they're cheap and effective and I'm almost positive that if you buy a "helmet band" it literally is a cut up inner tube.

...or you can use a bicycle tire inner tube in a slightly different manner:

it works perfectly but i can only get two bands out of it. not much of a profit return.
thanks a lot for the idea!

You're supposed to cut them crossways, not lengthwise ;)

aha....good one.
Don't forget to make sure you leave the valve stem in.......makes a great transfill connect.

Just stop by a truck tire shop, they'll have tons of truck inner tubes and will give them to you. Although, tube tires are becoming quite rare but lots of industrial equipment like forklifts and tractors still use tubes.
