We get our sick time buy out when we retire. We are paid for half of our sick time with a cap at 180 days. The maximum buy out is 1/2 of 180 days (90 days) which is about half a year's pay. If you have 300 sick days at the end of your career, you recieve the 90 days. If you have 150 sick days banked, you get paid out for 75.

GPFD - Are you on your union local executive? If so you can contact your Provincial Association for regional info and your Ditrict VP for info from accross the country, we do it all the time.
If not you really should go through your executive

Use it or lose it here. No pay out when you retire.
