OTTAWA, ON - The IAFF’s 13th Canadian Legislative Conference takes place April 24 to 27, 2005 at the Delta Ottawa Hotel, with national CBRN response training and the need to establish a Public Safety Officer Compensation benefit atop the IAFF’s federal legislative agenda. IAFF members from across Canada will come to Ottawa during the week to lobby their MPs and Senators directly for action on these and other issues of importance to Canada’s professional fire fighters. This edition of the conference marks the first to be held under Prime Minister Paul Martin, and also the first to be held under a minority government. Since the beginning of the 38th Session of Parliament, the IAFF Canadian Office has been working closely with the Canadian District Vice Presidents toward the development of new and emerging federal legislative issues. Information about these new issues, and all of the items on the IAFF’s Canadian Legislative Agenda, will be provided to all Canadian affiliates, as well as MPs and Senators, in advance of the conference. The Delta Ottawa Hotel is holding a block of rooms at a special rate for conference participants until March 21, 2005. More detailed information about the conference agenda will sent to affiliates as it becomes available.
