I have to start this just because Red Devil likes these so much. Useless information.

Who is your favorite band??

Mine- the best in Canada, the boys from Kingston- the one and only........

THE TRAGICALLY HIP

One more album and I own them all. 11 total, Rescue 78 you must be so proud.

I am kind of partial to milli-vanilli myself, especially when they do that great rendition of Simon & Garfunkels....."The sounds of silence":D

Sorry R_D, I wasn't going to participate in this post on your behalf....but the devil made me do it!

Can't narrow down to one, U2, Hip, Green Day, and of course milli vanilli (sort of our theme song " blame it on the rain")......BC......:D

I find myself to be a big Gavin Degraw fan right now, but of course I have only heard one of his songs.
I like new Greenday, U2, and believe it or not, Skye Sweetnam (those of you with preteen duaghters may have heard of her... she's on the Family Channel a lot and sings the theme song for Radio Fre Roscoe... her new album, Noise from the Basement is a little rockish, a little punkish.. love that), and Black Eyed Peas, gotta love the political lyrics... there's too much crap on the radio these days about being angry, cheating on a spouse, hooking up, being a "gangsta".. give me a break! hahaha!

I also like Vanessa Carleton, Nora Jones, and John Mayer... I'm a singer and I really appreciate those kinds of voices! :)

Bit of a musical dinosaur me. George Thorogood, U2 (but I've only been a fan since the album Boy) , Guess Who, Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings, lotsa good music as long as it's rockin' and rolling.

So here we are 25 years later and DISCO STILL SUCKS.:D

well I guess there are no hip hop fans then eh? , especially not FFwannabe. haha

I would have to pick the Stone's then. AC/DC and the Tragically Hip aren't too shabby either.

yeah most hip-hop/rap sucks now, but there are some good ones:

-OutKast
-K-Os (from Whitby) - check out his album, very original.
-The Roots - check out "Do You Want More?!!!??!", fusion of rap and jazz
-Beastie Boys - If you wanna have fun listening to music check out "Licensed to Ill" and "Paul's Boutique".

If I had to choose one, right now, its K-Os. Check out his album, it's called "Joyfull Rebellion".

hahaha... I do like hip hop, but sometimes the lyrics just become too much! I love K'OS and Outkast, but I love the old school stuff... when it was about dancing and the music, not about gangs and getting chicks! hahaha! Just seems to really lack any sense of morals today that's all! I love to dance, I'll admit it... hahaha.. especially after a few 50's and a few shots of, well, anything.. hahaha!

Y'know, the Stones are good, and The Eagles. I do like most music, but sorry, can't stomach disco bs. Also have a bit of a problem with using rap and music in the same sentence. Oxymoronic doncha think?

My boys from 'The Rock' - Great Big Sea - I never pass up an opportunity to see them live.
Also like Blue Rodeo, Nickelback, BNL. I'll listen to anything that actually has real instruments being played instead of sampled - although I have found myself singing along to eminem once or twice too!

Michael13
01-23-2005, 01:34 PM
Lots of variety here folks. I have to support most of the Canadian bands. Lots of excellent talent from the north. Hip, Blue Rodeo, Our Lady Peace, Bryan Adams. lots more, so many.

Whitewater_419
01-24-2005, 06:05 AM
Gawd, "favourite" music ? I like almost all of it :)

If I had to name a few favourite bands, though:

AC/DC, ZZ Top George Thorogood, Simon & Garfunkel, Bruce Springsteen (live stuff, anyway), Eminem (Thanks to my wife - I've been brainwashed!)

But I'll listen to just about anything - Opera, techno-opera, trance, country (some of it, anyway).

Since I work in front of the computer all day, I've usually got something playing, but usually it's comedy :)

No, it isn't because of the speedos. Read the Thread. Only 4 tickets. We tried to get ahold of you, but your wife said you were out playing in the snow with the other kids and she didn't know when you would be home. So we did the only plausible thing. We ignored you. Forgot you existed. Just looked after our own self-interests. You gotta problem with that? Like we care. Wilderness, DFC and FFWannabee are going to catch U2 with Bestcoast. You snooze, you lose. DFCSmash
02-20-2005, 07:56 AM
How was Harlequin last night? Well, lets just say that it's a good thing that boomers love their childhood bands. The band played not badly, George (Lead Vocalist) sadly, left his voice somewhere and never found it. Ever see the movie Phantom of The Paradise? Well. he sounded reminiscent of Beef. For those who haven't seen the movie, that's not good.:p

Our group had a great time. The others had all been to see Harlquin and Loverboy in Winnipeg back in Nov., and they said he sang much better there. I sure hope so. Because if he sounds as bad as he did last night all the time, he should really give it up.

Got home and stayd up long enought to post and then crashed.

Now back to the matter at hand. Okay, we can leave iamvff chained in the 5ver with BC's buddy. It's nice to see this wonderful spirit of compromise and compassion. :D

Ok BC, it's official. Your buddy should not be allowed to posess U2 tickets. To only think of monetary gain is heresy. Now if thise were YOUR tickets, or my tickets, I am certain we wouldn't even think of selling them on e bay. This is U2. Not KC and the freaking Sunshine Band. All the other goofing aside, I am actually serious. If I had managed to score 4 tickets to U2, the last thing I would ever consider selling them except to friends, at the price I had paid for them.

Sorry to hear of your friends thoughts. Maybe we'll just have to chain him just out of reach of the aforementioned beer fridge.:D

ramones, george jones, the pistols, the jazz butcher, the specials porter wagoner AC/DC, johnny cash, carl perkins, 5440, REM,greenday, lou reed, the talking heads, and the only band that ever mattered....The Clash.

There are so many more artists and so many genres of music its just too hard to list only a few.

I saw them a couple weekends ago at the Ovation Music festival in Stratford Ontario. I have to say I was mildly disappointed. First off, it was serverly cold, and who knew it, whiskey DOESN'T keep you warm ;) They did play a few new songs which were ok, but difficult to start liking when you hear they live. And the boys always play a 2nd encore, and this time they didn't. Everyone was ready to go home anyway. Aside from that, got to see Corb Lund and the Hurtin Albertans last weekend...those boys put on helluva show.

I'm taking this thread back to the begining !! From an all night highway driver point of view, ENYA can't be beat, nor can her humble beginings in Clannad, in Ireland. For an International beat, no question about the qualities of Supertramp, Pink Floyd, and The Moody Blues (don't forget - these are driving tunes I'm refering to here - 1800 to 0600 on the highway point A to point Z)(Gotta keep that foot a tappin to keep the blood a movin'...). Locally, it has to be The Rankins (God rest ye soul John Morris me lad), Great Big Sea, Rawlins Cross, Rita .... etc

I'm an old goat now with nothin' to lose, and teasin' me about ENYA will only make me mention here more, so quit while yer all ahead. LOL

Haz Pat

I would never tease about Enya...hell, I don't even know who they/him/her is....BUT....Rita...now thats funny!!

Kenny Chesney is my fav by far. I like most country, not chic country though.

Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Neal McCoy, Daryl Worley, Chris Cagle they are all good.

What's wrong with that?? LOL Unless the Mrs said something to you LOL... I'd have to say I like most music... except the crazy, shoot your dog kill your mom stuff... that's just plain wrong. But I'm on a huge Country Kick now... although Love Dave Matthews Band, as well as most Canadian bands...
