Can anyone recommend a pair of station wear boots, looking for a pair with a zipper, either on the side or the front. Where I can get them also, if you know, city, or website?
I need a new pair soon, been putting it off to long now.
Somewhere in Southwestern Ontario Burlington area.
Or a website that is reliable.

Thank you,

I've worn Original SWAT (stay away), Rocky, 5.11 and Danner patrol boots. The Danner Striker and Striker II's are the best I've worn. They're available with a Gore-Tex lining, green patch rated, and side zips. I believe there's also a model with a Crosstech lining rather than the Gore-Tex for NFPA's blood and body fluid EMS certification. Tetragon in Mississauga had the best price I found on the Striker II's. If you're going to buy from a website, at least go try the exact model on at your local store; you just can't be sure of the actual fit without trying the boots on; too much variation in sizes amongst manufacturers and even between models. And, I mean, if you're already at the store taking up their time...might as well just support your local shop. Haix might be nice as well. A number of their station boots are available with multiple NFPA cert's for tech rescue, EMS, wildland, haz-mat etc. Someone on here could likely point you in the direction of a Haix dealer.

So does anyone know of a Haix dealer in the Southern area, as far as Kitchener to Mississauga to Hamilton, Burlington area?

Thank you,

Here are the Haix that I have. Bought mine in Buffalo and paid over $100 less than anywhere in Canada. yes they are NFPA 1999 approved.

Those Haix boots look nice. I'm a big fan of Danner, but it looks like their side zip boot catches alot of flak for using a plastic zipper that can break. Their lace-up models could be fitted with one of their lace-in metal zippers, but they only offer the Crosstech membrane in the built-in side zip model. Too bad. I think I might look at some of those Haix station boots.

There are four guys now on my shift who grabbed the Haix and everyone loves them.

Maybe Chris will give us a deal if we go in on them again, like our other boots! I just got a pair of Haix extremes for tree work, man talk about a pair of well crafted/sturdy boots! I'm still working in my fire flash extremes!

A bunch of guys at my hall want to get into the fire hunter extremes but of course they are all looking for a similar sweet deal. At some point I'm sure Chris is going to want to start making some money on these things. ALLEGEDLY, and now this is just wild rumor and speculation at this point...there had been some discussion around the idea of our department paying for these boots. Typically I go through a pair of rubber boots each year...so if we can get 3 years from leather...starts to make sense...hmmmmm, interesting. Annoyingly, there are always a group of us that find ourselves just a little too far in front of the curve and end up buying things like personal flashlights, or a certain pocket tool, only to have the department buy them for us anyways 12 months down the road.

Check out Bates Footwear website (just Google "Bates footwear"). I am in Saskatchewan, but have a few dealers here so I am sure you can find them in Kitchener area. Awesome line of boots. I work with National Defense and the forces guys can wear these as replacement for issue boots even.

Go at it through your health and safety committee. That's how we ended up with leather structural boots.

A pair a year, what do you do, I wore my Acton "Air Boss" boots for years on the busiest truck on a full time department running about 7000 calls a year total. I find tit hard to believe you would go through a pair of boots like that unless you are a bad aim with the axe when chopping a hole in the roof.

Yeah, I think he does triathalons in them or mountain climbing!

Haha, no triathlons...not in rubber anyways. I find the biggest culprit is training; typically the boots aren`t subjected to a whole lot of wear and tear when delivering magic air on SOB calls. The second last pair had a branch tear through the side at a brush fire, while the toes of the last pair succumbed to training. They were Ranger Shoe Fit boots and to their credit, they probably lasted more like 18 months; they were definitely the best rubber boot I wore.

And Deevo, I thought you're on my side here. Obviously I was scraping together any excuse I could to go with the sexy leather....speaking of sexy leather, I should get my gimp costume finished up for tonight...

I have been wearing my Pro Warrington station boots model 3003 for 2 years. They are comfortable, have lots of life left in the sole, are easy to polish and look good.

I'm on your side dude! Did you get lots of candy trick or treating last night?
y kids brought in a good haul!

We bring one of the trucks up to an intersection, hand out candy, show the kids the trucks, and help them cross the road...but mostly I just scope out the moms. Thats all the candy I need.

I'm still Jonesing for a pair of Globe zip-ups, but with our budget it'd have to be on my dime. Guess I better keep saving my Loonies and DoubLoons :)

Haix... by far the best boot I have ever worn. Your feet feel great even after 14 hours on your feet, they conform to your foot, lots of arch support, and tight fitting. Not to mention large heel loops and a large tab on the zipper for fast donning.

Danners.... well let's just say I don't like them. Fitted by our previous supplier, I always felt sloppy in these boots. They have a much larger footprint than the HAIX. This year, danner went to a weak plastic slider/zipper and I am on my third pair. I have given up on them and am wearing my own HAIX.

Looks like we are going to the HAIX though, we only went with the Danners due to HAIX's lack of a CSA rating until this year.

Red wing boots are pretty good-I've had the same pair for 4 years and they're still going strong and they are CSA approved

Proud new owner of some Haix Airpower station boots. They're zip up boots...yet fit like lace up boots. I like them...but...I'm a Danner man. I feel so confused and conflicted.

Are you going for the shopper of the year award with Chris? I think I have you beat, but not by much! Good for you on the boots!

I should be good for the year now...hopefully for some time actually, haha.

I had the SWAT boot for 2yrs and it was excellent. I had plantarfaciatis for 2yrs and with orthotics in this boot my foot was very comfortable. They are very lightweight boots.

Another good boot is Michilin which Burlington orthotics was selling in two versions. I currently have the ankle cut in these and the Harley boot which I interchange at work depending on weather
