Goodmorning Folks,
I just noticed this forum? Thought I had better take part.
I'm a Career Medic (EMA2) with the BCAS in Victoria currently. I've been here for just over 3 years now... What a great place to sea kayak!!
I did a "tour" in Vancouver for 4.5 years. An awesome place to work! The Police and Fire there are fantastic!! It's the "one big happy team" approach there!
I did the part time Ambulance thing prior to this on V.I. for 8 years before getting hired f/t. Starting out in EMS in B.C. is not pleasant! The average time to get full time is 7 years now.
I was a Volly guy for 12 years and miss it very much!! As soon as I can make it farther up Vancouver Island I'm joining a Dept again!!

911Caddy welcome aboard. I had a feeling you worked for EHS by some of your post's. 4.5 years downtown...we probably went on a few run's together, i was down there as well for a few year's..(east side now)..You guys do great work, nothing but respect for BCAS in this province.....BC......

no just your both from the same area and both probably worked together at sometime so score as many brown points you can, lets be honest i,m sure they have pissed on your pickles once just as you have done to them... lmao

I like to think the problem's that existed are in past. 911Caddy will agree it hasn't always been a great relationship, but I never lost respect for the job they were doing. Miscommunication was a huge factor back then and things are WAY BETTER now. The problem's we had in the past are not unique to BC either. Once both sides sat down and everyone's role's were better defined things improved big time and the winner in the end was who it should be...The Public.....BC....

Absolutely, I spent more time at the fire halls than at my own stn?? The comraderie and food was great. We were always treated well by Vancouver Fire Rescue!!
And the view from 2 hall was spectacular!! Only BC will know what I'm speaking of!! : )
Thanks for the kind words BC!! The downtown East side was a great place to work. Mosty because of the relationships with the other agencies down there!!
Yeah, there are definately fella's in my service that do not appreciate the Fire or have issues?? But, Those are generally the Medics that we/I have problems with too!
I still don't understand their attitudes?? Personally I've always had an awesome working relationship with the Fire. Career and Volly.. It makes the call go smoother for me and the pt!
Besides, I think my Ambulance would look good red.

Oh ya 911Caddy the view from 2 Hall is pretty good..;) I know a couple of ALS guys that wouldn't mind an ambulance with red paint either.....

Hello I to like caddy 911 am a paramedic 1 with EHS in Victoria.
I have worked part time on the Island for 7 years and now work fultime in Victoria for over a year and a half. I enjoy very much working with the different departments in Victoria and find the fire dudes both proffessional and a great bunch of guys to work/hang out with.
I am not a firefighter yet! I have been waiting to become a volunteer firefighter but the department where I live do not take on volunteer's until next October. Can't wait.

I think it goes back quite a few posts,bestcoast and one of the Vancouver medics were on about a view from hall 2 or something.If its two guys from Vancouver it must be the mountains. YAWN, oh so overdone ...just kiddin guys its supernatural!

my 2-cent guess is the firehall had to be located near to the residence of some mind-numbingly gorgeous woman or something... something like that... lol
