Hey everyone,

Wondering if anyone here has graduated from the PCP program at criti care. Im thinking of applying for next year, but I dont no any paramedics or anyone who has taken this course. Im wondering if its quite competitive to get into? Just trying to find out if it would be a recommended program and if there are lots of jobs out there for new grads. Thanks for the help.

I have heard different things about this school, most of them not good. They teach you enough to pass the MB provincial exam, that is all. They also grade on the bell curve, which I think is unfair to students. I would also recommend going to some of the other schools to see their equipment and classrooms. Another thing to consider is where practicum sites are located. Also look at what other courses are offered during the program, ITLS, Driver/Operator, ICS 100, Haz-mat.

Consider the PERC program at MESC, it is available in Wpg and Brandon

I dont know where your getting your information from lightsandsirens but from a personal standpoint Criticare was the best EMS school to go to. Great instructors (all PCPs, ICPs, ACPs, and MS's from WEMS and WFD.) Great Clinical locations and a no BS attitude. If you do not do the work they have no problem dropping you unlike other programs that give you "second chances". They do not grade on a curve on any exam that I've taken from them. If you take a look in the last 2-3 years of hires in the WFPS (WFD and WEMS) over 50% are from Criticare. As for the other courses, yes I hear the MESC paramedic course is good, because it is taught by Winnipeg EMS paramedics as well. Just remember MESC lost its CMA accreditation and the WFPS allowed it to buddy onto theres so they could continue running their program.

To Dash88, Check out every school, Criticare, Red River Community College, and MESC. MESC and Red River do have the better clinical sites as they get to do ride alongs with WEMS which is great experience, Criticare goes to Fargo, Grand Forks, or Orlando Florida for their clinical. Call all the program directors and make your decission based on who sells the program the best!! I went through Criticare though and its a great school and I got hired by the Winnipeg Fire Department straight out of school and I was licensed as a Tech-P with Manitoba health after my first exam try. No re-write or practical fails and I thank Criticare for that

whoa stop the bus!!!! MESC did NOT lose their accreditation. Not sure where you got your info from. WFPS does not have accreditaion so how could they have offered it to MESC. Check the crest on the shoulders of the students it says MESC. Lets not go on bashing other agencies

MESC did lose accreditation. They piggy backed on the WFPS accreditation. WFPS has accreditation for their ACP program and for they're PCP program bridging fire medics to pcps. Check your facts. If mesc tells you other wise they're lying

With MESC piggy-backing on, does this continue to make it a CMA accredited school technically?

ya you would be still acredited through the WFPS there for still be able to get hired where ever. Check the CMA website for Accreditation is clearly states MESC shares the WFPS's Accreditation
